GENERAL INFORMATION
RATIONALE
Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University was established to provide higher educational opportunities to the Thai people through the distance education system. In the initial phase, the University established schools in selected academic areas that responded to the needs of society identified in the National Economic and Social Development Plan, National Educational Development Plan, and public opinion survey results on university education. The University's curricula and areas of studies were determined based on the experience and expertise of available personnel, the amount of teaching media available and the extent to which the discipline lends itself to the distance education system. Based on the above stated criteria, the School of Economics was established and began instruction in 1982.
The bachelor's degree programs of the School of Economics were approval by the Ministry of University affairs on February 29, 1980.
OBJECTIVES
- To offer bachelor's degree programs in economics to meet the needs of society.
- To provide academic services to people whose work is related to economics, or people interested in economics, and who wish to study specific topics for practical application or intellectual satisfaction.
- To provide basic course in economics for the other schools in the University.
