Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University employs integrated media mechanisms that are comprised of an assortment of printed reading materials (textbooks, magazines, journals, etc.)  to disseminate and delivery the educational programs sought by its educational clients.  Initially, the postal system offered the deliverance of learning materials on a timeframe and in the quantities needed to meet the requirements of STOU and comfort of students. This method allows STOU distance teaching scheme a network link to individual in remote corners of the country while providing accessibility to educational development materials.

Although printed material is still delivered by the Postal system, having entered the twenty-first century, STOU set-up an arrangement of additional learning venues, (face-to-face tutorials in study centers established within regional and provincial sites; via television and radio programming; audio and cassette tapes) have broaden the educational deliverance system. The incorporation of computer technology (e-Learning, on-line tutorials, e-library, etc.) gives further accessible to individuals wanting to receive formal education and achieve the goal of obtaining a post-secondary level education from a higher educational institution without having to enter into the traditional classroom environment. 

STOU’s distance education structure has been designed to encompass and adhere to the special needs of the learners and the communities that prosper from the empowerment of its populous.  Distance educational study center are continually being established in the remote area of Thailand for special interest groups (those in the service of the community e.g., policemen, soldiers, nurses and teachers) to give individuals the necessary access to current philosophies and practices that effect the quality of life of their community.
The distance education structure also includes community partnerships that are formed in collaboration with the government, non-governmental agencies and the private sector that help provide the on-site; on-the–job training , practical laboratory experiences.
