STOU Students Win Medals in University Games


On 21 January 2013, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchin Suntavaruk, Distinguished Member of the University Council and Acting President of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, presided over a congratulatory dinner for Ms. Phairin Panchasin and Ms. Chutharat Rungthian, two student athletes who won bronze medals in the 40th Thailand University Games. The pair won bronze medals for pairs tennis on 17 January 2013, when they defeated a pair from Bangkok University 2-1 in the 40th Thailand University Games, hosted by the Institute of Physical Education in Chonburi. Ms. Phairin Panchasin is a master’s degree student in the School of Communication Arts, and Ms. Chutharat Rungthian is studying for her bachelor’s degree in the School of Liberal Arts. STOU is proud to congratulate them on their success, which ended a nine-year stretch during which STOU had not won any medals in the annual Thailand University Games.
