On 5 September 2015, STOU held a reception dinner for commemorating the 37th anniversary of its founding. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ongkan Indrambarya, Chairman of the University Council, presided over the ceremony, which also featured the awarding of STOU Plaques of Honor to certain individuals who have made valuable contributions to the work of the university. The event was attended by university administrators, faculty members and representatives from international organizations, governmental and private sectors, including Mr. Shigeki Kobayashi, Counselor at the Embassy of Japan, Mr. Mohamed Al-Mujaibi, at the Embassy of Oman, Amma Marie at the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ninnat Olanvoravuth, Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suchin Worawichawong from Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital Mahidol University, Asst. prof. Dr. Apa Puckpinyo and Dr. Myo Zin Oo from ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, and Dr. Somsok Teerapijit, Former Secretary-General of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand.
