STOU Joined the OU5 Research Summit in Baguio, Philippines
On 25-28 November 2019, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) administrators and researchers attended the OU5 Research Summit in Baguio, Phillipines. This Research Summit is an opportune venue for OU5 member institutions to meet and discuss priority research areas on open and distance elearning (ODeL) and share some initial results
of the collaborative research with other ODeL academics and practitioners. The Summit is also in support of the Internationalization initiative of the OU5 member institutions.
Prof. Dr. Prasart Suebka, STOU Acting President, led the team and joined the OU5 Presidents Meeting while the researchers joined the Parallel Meetings of Research Groups, including the ASEAN Studies Research Group and the Institutional Research Group. The institution researches proposed by STOU were “Model Development of Online Knowledge Center
to Promote the Health of Working Population” by Ms. Duangbhorn Sapphayalak and
Ms. Supanita Sudsaward, and “A Model for Providing Continuing Education through Distance Education System of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University” by Prof. Dr. Sumalee Sungsri and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarisak Soonthornchai. The ASEAN Studies Research topics included “Community Involvement in Cultural Heritage Management for Tourism in Thailand”
by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ranee Esichaikul and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rochaporn Chansawang, and “Thai Food Images and Profiles of Thai Foods Consumption Behaviors among Citizens of Southeast Asian Countries” by Asst. Prof. Dr.Sungworn Ngudgratoke and the team of seven researchers.
The OU5 Research Summit at Baguio was very successful. The member institutions agreed to meet again for final meetings on the ongoing researches in mid-February in Sukhothai, Thailand where STOU will be the host.
