การอ้างอิงอาจใช้วิธีอ้างอิงจากกว้างสู่เฉพาะเจาะจง จากไกลสู่ใกล้ โดยวิธีการต่อไปนี้
- เขียนข้อมูล ประเด็นที่นำเสนอก่อนตามด้วยผู้เขียนที่ให้ข้อมูลนั้นๆ
