The aim of (this/these) study was to investigate reading strategies used by (advance/advanced) level EFL (learner/learners) while they were engaged in reading a hypermedia (text/texts) and to (determine/determines) whether prior knowledge/knowledgeable) was a factor in the use/uses of reading strategies. The (finding/findings) of this (study/studies) indicate that processing (strategy/strategies) in hypermedia reading are not (different/difference) from those used in (print/printed) texts. However, certain strategies that are commonly used in (convention/conventional) reading may not be essential for (efficient/efficiency) processing of hypertext. For instance, guessing the meaning of words instead of consulting a (dictionary/dictionaries) is a strategy used by (effective/effectively) readers in conventional reading, but it occurred (rare/rarely) in hypermedia reading because (a/the) glossary embedded in the text provides the meaning of words without affecting the reading flow.
