Areas  planted with wildflowers can provide key resources to beneficial arthropods  that have become rare in modern agricultural landscapes. For example, they can  serve as overwintering sites, provide alternate hosts and prey, or serve as  shelter when crop fields are cultivated or receive pesticides. Sown wildflower  areas (SWA) support a high diversity of beneficial arthropods including spiders  (Frank and Nentwig, 1995;  Aviron et al.,  2009). SWA were introduced in Switzerland  as a regular agri-environment scheme in 1993 (Günter, 2000) and may enhance  spiders beyond the boundaries of ecological compensation areas (Tscharntke et  al., 2007).

In its  standards, ACRL acknowledged the importance of disciplinary knowledge.  The standards stated that “information  literate individuals should understand that knowledge can be organized into  disciplines that influence the way information is accessed,” and they should  “implement the search using investigative protocol appropriate to the  discipline” (Association of College and Research Libraries, 2007).  Nevertheless, these standards are meant as a general guideline for all higher  education, with no distinction between fields or levels of study.

Theorists  emphasize that patients need to have adequate information to gain knowledge and  understanding of a certain health-related issue (such as lymphedema risk) and  to make decisions and develop preventive or coping strategies (such as  lymphedema risk-reduction behaviours). Accordingly, patient education that is  accurate is a critical dimension of lymphedema risk-reduction.
