STOU Co-Hosted International Conference

    In celebration of STOU’s 40th anniversary, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) in cooperation with UNESCO Bangkok hosted the International Conference on “Distance Learning: Research and Innovation for a Digital Society” during 1-3 August 2019 at STOU headquarter, Nonthaburi, Thailand. Prof. Prasart Suebka, Acting President of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) and Dr. Libing Wang, the Representative of the Director of UNESCO Bangkok delivered welcome remark at the opening ceremony to over 200 senior administrators, educators, researchers and distance education experts from 22 countries.

    Apart from UNESCO Bangkok, International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and Thailand Cyber University (TCU) were the supporting partners of this special occasion. The conference provided an engaging forum for addressing issues, ideas and developments in the field of education through keynote speeches, panel discussion and paper presentations. It offered extremely beneficial and great opportunity for all participants
    to broaden their knowledge and exchange their perspectives with the speakers and panelists
    as well as to establish connections with other educational professionals from around the world.
    Besides this formal academic activity, the welcome dinner and cultural show at Siam Niramit
    and post-conference tour at historical sites in Ayutthaya province were organized in order to give foreign participants a better understanding of Thai culture and history.
