As Table 4.10 shows, the strategies reported cover 15 categories with metacognitive strategy use the highest (53.59 % of the total 515 instances), cognitive strategy use the second (39.41%), and socio-affective strategy use the lowest (7.00%). In terms of category, 8 categories of cognitive, 5 metacognitive, and 2 socio-affective strategies were reported. The result suggests that metacognitive strategy use is higher than cognitive strategy use. This contradicts the results from the closed questions but the result of socio-affective strategy use is in line with the results from closed questions.
