The main finding with regard to pedagogical implications is that explicit correction on the whole is more effective than implicit correction with one caveat: that is, explicit correction seems to work very well for morphological and not so well for syntactic features. The main implication of this study is that teachers in the context of communicative activities should not be apprehensive about using explicit correction (i.e. providing metalinguistic information)… Moreover, teachers should be aware that the type of error that needs corrections also plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of explicit and implicit correction.
