8.4  การเขียนประโยคให้กระชับ

         8.4.1   ปรับการใช้คำฟุ่มเฟือย redundancy

         8.4.2    ย่อ clause เป็น phrase   
 ประโยคที่มี relative clause ขยายประธาน
Think–aloud protocols, which was adapted from cognitive psychology, provide  a direct view of readers’ thought processes while information is attended to (Cohen, 1987).
ปรับเป็น
Adapted from cognitive psychology, think–aloud protocols provide a direct view of readers’ thought processes while information is attended to (Cohen, 1987).

         8.4.3 ตัดคำขยายที่ไม่จำเป็น ออก
  ให้ใช้ adverb ขยายความอย่างระมัดระวัง โดยเฉพาะคำที่มีความหมายกว้าง ๆ เช่น very, really, quite, extremely, severelyเนื่องจากการเขียนบทความจากงานวิจัยจำเป็นต้องมีลักษณะเฉพาะเจาะจง

         8.4.4 หลีกเลี่ยงประโยคที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย  there is there are
    

         8.4.5 ละกลุ่มคำบางอย่างเพื่อความกระชับ    
กลุ่มคำเช่น as a matter of fact,  due to the fact that,  at the present time, have a tendency to

         8.4.6 ตัดคำที่ใช้บ่อยจนเฝือ  

               เช่น trial and error
